Lesson Plans

Below is the scope for Unit 7 of Ready2Read Level 1.

Sight Word Practice

The sight words red, me, funny, make and said are taught in Unit 7.

Here’s the silly caterpillar that crawls in during Unit 7.

These Sight Word Practice pages have students first trace the word, then use it in a simple sentence to practice using the word in context.

Here is a simple game to build fluency while having fun.

Break the Sight Word Code has students identify each letter based on the picture to build the secret sight word.

CVC Word Family Practice

In Unit 7, we add another butterfly and a sun to our Word Family Garden! The word families -un and -ub are the focus in this unit.

Make new words with the Word Family Sliders.

This unit is the perfect unit to teach the students to identify real and nonsense words, as there are not as many -un and -ub words as in the other units. The Word Family House is the perfect activity to do just that!

Build the words to make the picture.

Roll a die, read the word and cover the picture.

Flip a card and find the same word on the board.

Sound out the word and find the missing letters to make the word complete.

Read the word and place below the correct picture.

Spin the spinner and cover a word that matches.

Sort the words to the corresponding pictures.

Fill in the missing letters and write the word on the lines.

Mixed Review
