Telling time is a skill that students should learn early on and master quickly, since they will use it their entire lives. Furthermore, we live in a very digital age where many kids struggle to tell time, especially on analog clocks. Therefore, in this new First Grade Math Made Fun packet (Unit 8), students will learn to tell time by the half hour using both digital and analog clocks through games and hands-on activities. By the end of the packet, students will have mastered the skill of telling time to the half hour and will be ready to move on to more complex time-telling activities.
In this math unit, students will:
*Read digital and analog clocks: time to the half hour
*Draw hans on the analog clock to show the correct hour and minutes
*Practice reading time in written form with o’clock, thirty and half past
*Connecting the correct times with everyday events
*Understanding a.m. and p.m. with everyday events
In the First Grade Math Made Fun Unit 8, time has never been so fun! This unit is loaded with 15 Hands-ON Math Centers and 33 NO PREP practice pages to help teach, master and reinforce this very important math concept.

HOW DO I ORGANIZE THE UNITS?
I chose to store the math centers in Sterilite bins, because they don’t take up too much space. It is a tight fit, but I find that they work nicely for me. However, if you choose, you could store the centers in a larger container as well. Within the bin, each math center is stored in a gallon sized ziplock baggie.
