Let’s take a look at what is included in the December First Grade Morning Bins
Morning Bin #1: Vocabulary
Students will build a vocabulary word with magnetic letters. Students will match the picture to the word.
Morning Bin #2: Sounds
Students will flip a card, find the ending blend on the board and cover the blend.
Morning Bin #3: Segment & Blend
Students will flip a card, read the word and sort whether the word is a real or silly word.
Morning Bin #4: Sight Words
Students will pick a card, find the symbols on the board and build the word.
Morning Bin #5: Sequence
Students will read the sentences, put them in order and read the story.
Morning Bin #6: Sentences
Students will read the sentence, decide if they have correct capitalization and sort the sentence on the mat.
Morning Bin #7: Grammar
Students will read the words, place them in order by intensity and check their work.
Morning Bin #8: Writing
Students will pick a character and setting card and write a story that uses the character and setting.
Morning Bin #9: Rhymes, Syllables & Compound Words
Students will put the compound word puzzles together.
Morning Bin #10: Text
Students will pick a card, decide what was said and clip the best choice.
Morning Bin #11: Count Sequence
Students will use the cards to skip count by 10’s up to 120.
Morning Bin #12: Comparing Numbers & Making Groups
Students will pick a card and make even groups on the mat.
Morning Bin #13: Representing Numbers
Students will flip a card, use counters to show the equation and complete the number bond to match.
Morning Bin #14: Base Ten
Students will flip a blue and green card, use base ten blocks to show the tens and ones.
Morning Bin #15: Fluency
Students will roll a die, move their game piece to subtract the number and continue until they reach 1.
Morning Bin #16: Addition & Subtraction
Students will spin, find and cover the solution or difference.
Morning Bin #17: Measurement & Data
Students will sort cubes by color and graph the results.
Morning Bin #18: Geometry
Students will flip a card, count the sides and use play dough and toothpicks to build the shape.
Morning Bin #19: Time & Money
Students will choose a card and find a time that matches the clock.
Morning Bin #20: Patterns & Fractions
Students will flip a card and write the numbers that are one more/less and ten more/less.
Morning Bin #21: Social & Emotional
Students will pick a characteristic and write about a time a friend showed that to them.
