We are three units into Level 2 of the Ready2Read program and everything is going along nicely! Audrey continues to amaze me at how quickly she picks things up, but I think all kids are like sponges…waiting to soak it all up!
*If you are new to the Ready2Read program, you can check out the information for Level 1 {HERE}. Level 1 prepares children for Level 2.

Level 2 Theme: Word Family Fair
Unit 3 Sight Words: white, ate, on, she, want
Unit 3 Word Families: -ing and -ice
**This week we introduced the long vowel/ silent e word family (-ice). It is important to teach this concept specifically. Therefore, here are two free downloads for helping to reinforce the concept if you missed them from last week:
1) Color-by-Number Silent E (review if you downloaded them last week)
2)Silent E
We started by with our color-by-number sight words.
We now have 15 words for Level 2!
Singing our sight words to the tune of B-I-N-G-O is still a favorite around here. In fact, both girls “fight” over who gets to point to the words next. Little Sophia loves to be a part of everything and singing is such a FUN way to learn:) It is good to let them search for the words too…
Five new sight word circles were traced, colored in and added to our balloons…
Decorating sight words was all about the tissue paper this week, which was Audrey’s suggestion…
Remember to let THEM squeeze those glue bottles, which help build up those hand muscles…
Look at all of our sight words thus far…
Audrey was super excited about coloring in her word family puppy…
Here is our Color-by-Sight-Word Aquarium! This was such a FUN coloring page! What kid doesn’t LOVE coloring and it is good for building up those fine motor skills needed for writing…
Read it, Trace it, Paste it pages…
Break the Sight Word Code pages are so much fun! There are 3 pages in each unit…
Audrey loves reading her Mini Mini books…
Our word family word sort brought a smile to her face! Cupcakes!
We played memory with the word family sort printables this week! Just print an extra copy and have fun learning. I think it really helps in reading the words correctly:)
Play Dough Mats…
I think that the word slides this week are SO cute! We have chocolate sprinkled donuts!!! Audrey said, “Oh, I like this Mommy! Thank you!”
Roll A Word Family is always a hit here…
Sight Word Graphing…
Different levels can be purchased from my Teachers Notebook Shop…
We played Tic-Tac-ING and Tic-Tac-ICE and she had a blast! Who said learning can’t be fun??
Our Blends and Digraph worksheet…
*Note: We only had two blend pictures for the -ice word family because we are only working with specific word families in Level 2…
The Sentence Strips are a great way to review sight words (pre-primer) from Level 1 and word families from Level 2. I am a strong believer that review is SO important and that is why I incorporated this element into the program. Here, Audrey is hunting for the correct sight word…
Next, she glued the cut up pieced onto the sheet…
We continue to add new blend words each week to our lemonade cups and review the ones we already have learned…
Oh yes…Cotton Candy Word Families! How sweet:)
Here is a picture of our Ready2Read wall for Level 2 Unit 3:

Wow Annie this looks so cool. It really kicks it up a notch and I think my grandson will love this. The only thing that could make it better is if it were math (his favorite subject). Thanks for all your hard work, this time I am going to wait for the bundle, but believe me it is hard to do.
