We had a great week with our Unit 3 Ready2Read curriculum! It is awe inspiring to watch a child progress in their reading abilities! If you need more information on what the Ready2Read program is, click {HERE)
*Note: As of 11/7/2012, Level 1 has been completely reworked and revised. Here is the NEW and IMPROVED version! This blogpost will be a bit different from the upgraded printables, but contains the same content.
Sight Words: my, jump, down, in, big
Word Families: –ot, -it

We started the week with our 5 new color-by-number sight words for our word wall…
Audrey sang her sight word songs to the tune of B-I-N-G-O. This must work because she periodically sings her sight words throughout the day:)
She colored her 5 new sight words to add to our growing caterpillar!
Decorated our sight word! This was so much FUN for Audrey that I had to add some extra pictures!
in-marsmellows
my-cherrios
down-cupcake sprinkles
jump-chocolate chips
big-couscous
Now that was some F-U-N learning!!
3 weeks of sight word decorating…time to hit the round file:) (trash!)
Sight word tracing…
Color by Word Family…
Color by Sight Word
Another week of painting our Read it, Trace it, Paste it pages…
Audrey worked with her CVC word cards. She really liked writing the letters in each box.
Crack the Sight Word Code…
Circle the correct CVC word…
Assemble and read our -ot and -it word family minibooks…
*NOTE* some of the sentences in these books are totally silly! However, they still help practice the specific word families and sight words;)
Our word family word sort this week required sorting the crayons in the correct pile. Audrey really enjoyed this activity:)
Practiced CVC words with our -ot and -it word slides…
Word picture match…
We added this cute word family dragonfly to our garden…
I think we will install some more grass:)
Here is a look at our Ready2Ready wall for Unit 3

Annie, you rock! I'm snagging a copy of this to use with my preschooler this fall. Thanks so much for sharing! And thanks for linking this up at For the Kids Fridays! I'm sharing with my Facebook friends now… 🙂

Not blogging about this, but my almost 3 year old is super loving this series! We are on week 2. His fine motor skills are nowhere near his decoding/reading and your plans work real well with that. We are doing a lot of gluing and pasting rather than reusing (less laminating haha)

gsv,
Thank you for sharing that great feedback! I am glad that these units help with those fine motor skills:) Hey, it saves you some money on lamination! Keep us updated!

I just want to say these are awesome! I use them for my son that is in Pre-K. But believe it or not I will be using these for my 1st graders too! I have alot of ELL students who come to me knowing no english at all and I have to start at the bottom. These are excellent for them ! Thank you!

This is my first year teaching Kindergarten (after 11 years of teaching). THANK THANK THANK YOU!!!! for Ready to Read! I love it. I have printed all of the units so far and have them in a binder ready for school to start. So, each unit is for one week correct?? How many units do you intend to create? I need my class to learn List 1a/b and 2a/b. I was curious about where you get your order for teaching the words?
Thanks again, a million times!
