Audrey has finished Level 1 of our Ready2Read Program and can’t stop reading book after book! The success of this program has really boosted her reading confidence and she LOVES to read. Here are a few resources that we use to maintain her reading level:
We buy lots of easy readers from the Friends of the Library! I spend anywhere from 10 cents to 25 cents for each book. I love having these in our home so the girls can have constant access to them. We also borrow books from the library and pick up great deals from garage sales. We have a few sets that we purchased as well!
We use our Tic-Tac-Word Family Games to practice CVC words. The more Audrey practices, the more fluid she becomes in her reading. She LOVES playing this game with Mommy! She usually wins;)
The Break the Sight Word Code is a HUGE success in our home and is a best seller on Teachers Notebook! There are 30 pages that work with all the pre-primer sight words and simple CVC words. These sheets can be used again and again when they are placed in plastic sleeves and used with a dry erase marker. Audrey feels so successful since she can read the sentences on her own! She enjoys being a detective who uncovers the clues to make a sentence, which she can read!
That looks really great! I will have to share your Ready to Read program with some of our special kids. Those hands on activities are just what our kiddos need! I did some of those with my Gess, but you also had some fresh ideas too. I love it!
