It has been quite awhile since we have shared a post on our Ready2Read units in action. Finally! We will be posting Ready2Read Level 3 Unit 1 in the next few days! I am VERY excited about this unit and it has been a HUGE hit! There are so many pictures and I can’t wait to share with them with you!
Here is what our Ready2Read wall looks like before we add any of our Ready2Read pieces. It doesn’t look like much right now, but it will look AMAZING as we start to add the sight word starfish, word family ocean animals and long vowel posters. Each week we will be adding more and more to our Ready2Read wall and I am so excited to show you!
I also wanted to share a video of Audrey reading before she actually started Level 3. This is just an informal assessment and allows me to see her progress with each level. After we finish Level 3, I will record her reading again and be able to look back and see how much improvement she has made.
By the way, you may hear the little voice of my 3 year old in the background;) We tried to hide, but she found us! She makes a little bit of noise in the background…sorry! Also, I didn’t mean to post a long video, I just love hearing her read:)
Note: You will also notice in the video that Audrey reads very well and she will be able to read the word families and sight words in Level 3 without any difficulty. She will continue to work through each unit for mastery and confidence. The consistent exposure to a specific set of sight words and word families will invariable help with patterns and spelling for her overall reading success.
It is important to remember that each child will progress at a different rate and pace. This video is not meant to compare one child to another, but rather to show progress. Although Ready2Read is the only reading program that we have used, we read a LOT of books! We get books from the library on a weekly bases and we have hundreds of books in our home. Facilitating and cultivating a love for reading is a MUST in order for any reading program to be successful.
I strongly believe that Audrey has been successful with our Ready2Read program because of all the hands-on activities in each unit. The Ready2Read units will meet the needs of the kinesthetic, visual and auditory learners. It is so rewarding to know that she enjoys reading and doing Ready2Read!

What a wonderful video. You have quite a little reader there – but most importantly – she loves to read! I appreciate your comment on not comparing children. That is so important to remember, especially when children have growth spurts. One minute they seem to be chugging slowly along and then suddenly everything falls into place and their skills seem to soar! Thanks for sharing this! Have a great weekend. Renee
