We are 2 units into the Ready2Read (Level 2) Program and I so pleased with Audrey’s progress! With each Ready2Read unit, Audrey’s confidence and fluency continues to grow.

Audrey colored her Color-by-Number Sight Words. We laminated them and put them in our pocket chart with last weeks words to review…
We continue to sing our sight words to the tune of B-I-N-G-O and Sophia (2 years old) just loves participating in this activity. There is usually a lot of fighting about who gets to point to the words next!
Audrey likes to look for the words and place them in the correct spots.
The Sight Word Circles are colored, laminated, cut out and added to our bunch of balloons. Audrey loves to put the balloons onto the wall. I think is is so important that kids claim as much ownership in the learning process as possible…even if the balloons are not where I think they should go;)
The FUN part…decorating sight words! Actually, I think the girls like eating the decorations;) I just love it when learning is so much F-U-N!
I don’t keep the decorated sight words for more than a few weeks…

Cut out the Mini-Mini Books and read them throughout the week…
Word sorts always bring a smile, especially this week! I am not a big fan of monster stuff because it is a little scary for the girls. However, I called these “cute little creatures” and everyone was happy!
Word Family Play Dough Mats! Roll out the play dough, form it into snake like pieces and form into word families. Add the beginning sound/blend to make new words.
Word family slides can help master the blending of words and fluency…

Roll A Word Family is such a FUN, FUN way to learn! We have a blast rolling the dice and seeing who will make three in a row first.
We continued the game so we could practice all of the words on the list. Take turns rolling the dice and color in a word in the number column. If all the words have been colored in for that column, you skip your turn. The person who has the most colored in blocks wins! You can play this game several times during your Ready2Read units, which helps to build phonics fluency!

Blends and Digraphs Worksheets…
This week we were limited to the blends so I had a couple of words that only had a single sound at the beginning. This activity was a great way to build vocabulary as well since Audrey did not know what the word mend meant.
The Sentence Strips activity is our way to review sight words from Level 1. The pre-primer sight words are in black and the word family words are in purple. This activity can be played in a couple of ways, which are explained in the Level 1 download. This was Audrey’s FAVORITE activity! We so eager to get the dot markers out and find all of the words. *NOTE: If it is too overwhelming for a child to do the entire page at once, just cut the sheet in half or even one sentence at a time.

snake, brake, flake, shake, blend, spend, trend
I know that SN is not one of our blends for Level 2, but I added it to have some extra practice.

Hi Annie,
I'm working on unit 2 level 2 and just discovered that the lesson plan says to use the -end Ferris Wheel. It does not appear to be in the packet. Was this a type-o or is there a Ferris Wheel somewhere? 🙂 The student I'm working with is doing amazing with Ready2Read. Thank you so much.
