Young ones have so much fun learning about money in Kindergarten! Therefore, I am so excited about Unit 11, because even though money isn’t something that is outlined in the standards, these lessons set a strong foundation for life-long learning. I love to see how excited Kindergarten students get over playing with money. Often, they see their parents pay for things all the time, and when they finally have the opportunity to work with money too, their faces light up!
In this math unit, students will:
*Practice recognizing, naming and sorting pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters
*Practice identifying the front and back sides of coins
*Practice identifying the value of coins
*Count pennies up to 20
*Skip count by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s to identify values of multiple pennies, nickels and dimes
*Add groups of coins together to determine value
*Compare values of 2 groups of coins
*Determine the amount of coins needed to come to a specific value
*Practice identifying needs and wants
In Kindergarten Math Made Fun Unit 11, money has never been so fun! This unit is loaded with 20 Hands-ON Math Centers and 56 NO PREP practice pages to help teach, master and reinforce this very important math concept.

HOW DO I ORGANIZE THE UNITS?
I chose to store the math centers in Sterilite bins, because they don’t take up too much space. It is a tight fit, but I find that they work nicely for me. However, if you choose, you could store the centers in a larger container as well. Within the bin, each math center is stored in a gallon sized ziplock baggie.
