By 3rd Grade, students are required to fluently add and subtract within 1,000 with and without regrouping. By applying a variety of grade-level addition and subtraction strategies, students develop greater accuracy and confidence. Through a variety of strategies, students learn that numbers can be adjusted to compute more efficiently. In Unit 2 of Math Made Fun for 3rd Grade, students apply place value strategies from Unit 1 and other strategies previously taught with larger numbers. CENTER NUMBER 1: Spin, Solve and Cover (Addition)
Spin both spinners. Add the numbers. Cover the number on the board that matches the sum.



CENTER NUMBER 2: Spin, Solve and Cover (Subtraction)
Spin both spinners. Subtract the number on the second spinner from the number on the first spinner. Cover the number on the board that matches the difference.


CENTER NUMBER 3: Break Apart Strategy Addition (3 Digits)
Match the difference with the correct problem. Record your answers on the recording sheet.


CENTER NUMBER 4: Break Apart Fill-In Addition (3 Digits)

Two players each flip a card. Solve the problems. Then compare the sums or differences. The player with the highest number colors a star.
