I am in love with my new teaching tool…a $10 oil pan! I can’t take credit for this awesome idea, it is one of my Pinterest finds. This huge magnetic oil pan offers a great opportunity to better use our printables as an effective teaching tool. The more room the better!
Here are our Pirate Printables
I laminated the puzzles, cut out the strips and then attached magnets on the top and bottom of each piece. We have had so much more use out of our printables! Audrey really likes how easily her puzzles pop into place.
Audrey colored each of the pictures and now has ownership of the printable. The letter tiles below also have magnets, making this a FUN and easy learning activity. The CVC Packet can also be used for earlier readers who may want to find just the beginning, middle or ending sounds of each word.
I will be posting some pictures of the little tot (Sophia) and her magnetic activities soon! The possibilities are endless!!

I have puzzles like this from Lakeshore in my class and the kids love them! In fact, they have asked for more of them. I love the idea of the huge magnetic tray. Great ideas.

Funky First Grade Fun
I have seen this on pinterest too, many times, but I have always wondered how it was attached to the wall. How did you do it, I would be very interested? Is it permanent?

I haven't attached it to the wall yet, but I was asking my husband the same question. He suggests velcro, which I think will come off…I hope. I'm just not nuts about punching holes in the wall so I hope this works…I'll let you know:)

A Cupcake for the Teacher
I got this idea from Pinterest as well. We really love it!! I used scotch wall tape to mount it. It has held up beautifully for around 3 months now, and we play with it all of the time. Enjoy!!

You are so sweet:) The metal oil pan was a little harder to find but I found it at an auto parts store. Perhaps they have them at Walmart? They were only $10!! Totally worth it!

Tell me about the magnets you used. I've been using the sticky back rolls, but they peel off the paper too easily, do you have a better suggestion?

Love the oil pan… I have one in my classroom. I painted it with chalk paint. Now my babes can write on it or use magnets! I hot glued mine to a book shelf and have a cute rug where the children can sit and work. Audrey is adorable! My baby is home from College… so hold that little one tight. Time goes by way tooooo fast! PS>>> Love the puzzles! You are so creative!

Thanks so much for the tip about the oil pans. I need a new magnetic surface for my literacy and math station student assignments. Also loved knowing where to get magnetic dots for a fairly cheap price. The rolls of magnet tape don't work.
Can you use write on/wipe off markers on the drip pans? It seems that you could, but I wanted to see if you've tried it to be sure.
