I am thrilled beyond words to finally be able to post about our Interactive Math Packet (Subtraction to 20)! Subtraction can be difficult for kids to fully master and they need a LOT of practice! I am a huge advocate of mastering math facts because it lays a foundation for all other types of math. We started with our Interactive Math Packet (Addition up to 20) and it has helped tremendously!

I am not a big fan of the “drill and kill” approach to mastering math facts. Boring doesn’t work with The Moffatt Girls. Kids learn best when they are having FUN and highly engaged in an activity. This packet is FUN, engaging and highly effective!

This packet if FILLED with so many different ways to master subtractions facts! There is NO PREP except for the math fact flash cards. No laminating, no costly colored ink…just PRINT and PLAY!

__This packet includes the following:__*Five in a Row Subtract 1 (roll 2 dice, add them up, subtract 1 and color the number)

*Five in a Row Subtract 2 (roll 2 dice, add them up, subtract 1 and color the number)

*Five in a Row Subtract 2 (roll 3 dice, add them up, subtract 1 and color the number)

**Here are some of the printables in action…**

**Five in a Row!**Roll the dice, add them up and subtract the given number. This allows students to add AND subtract! Before we were even finished with this sheet Audrey asked, “Can you print another one?” Now THAT made me happy! Of course I can!

Math doesn’t get better than this!

**Roll and Subtract**works with a given number and students will roll and subtract the number on the die.

This is FAST, fun and effective!

**The Solve it, Cut it, Paste it**pages also work with a specific number up to 20.

I LOVE this printable because there is a LOT to do on just one page. First, kids solve 15 subtraction math fact problems by subtracting a specific number. Next, cut out the math problems at the bottom of the page and then sort paste them into the even and odd answer columns.

This activity was the perfect challenge. We pulled out the

**Individual Number Lines**to help “see” the answers. This was a great visual tool when first starting the subtraction packet. I printed and laminated the Number Lines on different colored card stock. Sorting even and odd answers….

True/False, Spin 2 Spinners and Subtract, and Tally up the answer!

Another jammed packed and FUN activity!

Another jammed packed and FUN activity!

First students solve 8 subtraction problems and color according to the code.

The next activity on the sheet requires students to spin 2 spinners and record the numbers to make a subtraction sentence…

Show the answer in tally marks…

**Spin and Subtract**

Kids LOVE to use a spinner and here is another spinner activity to help master subtraction facts!

The

**Math Fact Tests**were a great way to work on speed and accuracy. She only missed 1 on this page 🙂

This is the ONLY prep require for the Subtraction packet.

I printed the Individual Number Lines on colored card stock and laminated them.

I also printed each of the

**flashcard sets**on different colored card stock. I laminated them for durability and put them in little baggies…They are all stored in this basket and ready to go!

It was a BIG week! A new subtraction packet AND we lost a tooth!
