There are a number of great online resources that can help children learn…in moderation of course! And let’s be honest…it really comes in handy when I am trying to get dinner on the table! I thought I would share a few of our favorites…
We even have this one as an app on our iPhones and iPads. No, we don’t let the girls spend a ton of time on these devices, but they proven to be a great way to reinforce what we are already learning. Sophia LOVES Starfall!
Sophia loves the ABC section. I like Starfall because the phonics sounds are actually accurate. I can’t tell you how many apps I have deleted due to incorrect phonics pronunciation! Sad.
The site is geared towards Pre-K to 1st grade and has games, stories, videos, a preschool section, worksheets and arts and crafts. Audrey can get a little carried away on this site so I usually set the timer for 15 minutes:)

Our kinders LOVE Starfall, too! I'm always looking for sites to add to our school's website. I have a section there for all of our students to find educational game sites and links to our core curriculum's sites. I'll have to check out Cookie and Reading Eggs.

We also use Starfall, I like that they also have free ABC printables. Another site that is a favorite is Peep in the Big Wide World. It is a science based site, and the characters are a scream (I love Quack). They also have games based on a science subject and it is free. They also have videos to watch which is nice for us because it is not on TV in our area.
Of course there are many sites connected to PBS. Wild Kratt's is a fav of the Director.
My Lottie LOVES Reading Eggs and Cookie too:) They have both helped her so much in her readiness to start 'big school' this January:) I think our school uses starfall…not sure? I have two little blossoms in my class who are in grade 1 and really struggling just with letter / sound identification, so I purchased a subscription to Reading Eggs for them. They love it and are starting to show some progress…which just makes me smile! I will have to check out Starfall… thanks so much for the recommendation, Annie! Happy week ahead to you ~ xx

Thanks for sharing these other two. We use StarFall a lot with our first graders, but my 4 year old also loves it. Even my 2 year old knows how to use the ABC section on my husband's iPhone.
We also love PBS Kids and ABCya.

I love Professor Garfield http://www.professorgarfield.com for phonics and phonemic awareness in K-2. I also love http://www.arcademicskillbuilders.com for older students as the games are very engaging.

Crayons and Curls
I have just started using readwritethink.org by the International Reading Association. It has tons of free games that are awesome. Go to Student Interactives, Learning about Language has abc, word building, word sorting etc. This site has a lot more I haven't explored yet! Thanks for the other great sites 🙂
I'll have to try these – they are new to me. The favorite around here has been PBSkids.org. My little grandson learned the letter names by playing on it! Thanks for these resources, Renee
My girls and my students really LOVE abcmouse.com. It is a subscription site, but right now they are offering it free to teachers. I have my whole class on it and my own girls at home. They ask me to do it everyday. We have to set a limit too, they do two lessons and two games. They earn tickets and can "buy" things. They also have a fish tank and a hamster they have to take care of. We love it.
