Sight Word Practice

Whenever educational tasks becomes a game, children enjoy themselves and hardly know they are learning. Today I tried a little whiteboard fun with Sophia. She is very interested in learning, so I try to expose her to different things to see what grabs her interest.
Sophia has been learning a few sight words (see, a, I, and and the), so we tried this easy little game.
I wrote a few sight words on the whiteboard. I called out a sight word and Sophia ran to erase it. She had so much fun with this very simple task. I wasn’t really sure if she was solid in these 5 sight words, but this little “assessment” showed me that she indeed knows all of them:)

I love this dry erase board game. I can't believe I never thought of it, it's brilliant! As a classroom teacher I love how this can become such a quick way to assess my students' knowledge! I have to take this opportunity to tell you thank you! My students and I have just finished your Ready to Read Unit 1, I cannot even begin to explain what a huge success it was! You were right, my kiddos favorite part was also decorating the sight words with sprinkles lol, but they also love the sight word caterpillar. I just purchased unit two, and will begin implementing it tomorrow 🙂 we loved your at family and can family books so much that each one of my students made their very own. What really shocked me though was that I planned for them to draw pictures such as "hat" and "cat", and then I planned to write the text for them. However, my jaw dropped when they presented me with their finished books and had written the words out themselves! I was so proud, but you should be to, as I followed your plans to a T! I just cannot thank you enough. I also really like the white board idea. Right now my daughter doesn't have one, but I do so I may just have to bring it along and use these ideas. I think the math one will be a big hit. I could use it for both sums and number recognition for the preschooler. They always love a challenge.
Did you have to write it again on the white board if the kiddos erased the wrong thing?
