Build decoding skills with this Candy Corn Short Vowel Words center for kindergarten and 1st grade. Students place a candy corn vowel on each pumpkin bucket to make a CVC word like cat, hen, pig, dog, or bug, then blend and read the word aloud. Includes five no prep word mats, one each for short a, e, i, o, and u (12 words per mat, 60 CVC words in all), plus cut-and-use candy corn vowel pieces. A Science of Reading aligned activity for practicing short vowel sounds, blending, and reading CVC words (RF.K.3b, RF.1.3b).
