Reading Comprehension Packet
This Reading Comprehension Packet is filled with 20 booklets and 20 response sheets to help build comprehension for emergent and early readers, perfect for K-1 students.

While reading the mini-books and responding to the text with the comprehension sheets, students will be able to work on some of the following skills:
*predicting
*inferring
*following directions
*accessing prior knowledge
*organizing information
*using complete sentences
*vocabulary development
*using context clues
*recalling story details
*critical thinking
*answering questions (under the surface and on the surface)
These mini-books are designed for 1st grade, but can also be used in Kindergarten and 2nd Grade depending on the needs and levels of the students.
This packet can be used in a variety of ways…
1. Orally- This is a great way to build comprehension with students who are not yet ready to write a response or read the books independently.   The teacher can read the book out loud and students can practice responding orally.  This would be a great opportunity to practice predicting, inferring and many other skills mentioned above.
2. Small Groups or Partners-The mini-books include short sentences with many repeated words to help build confidence and fluency.  This would be a perfect way to incorporate shared reading.
3. Independent Work- For students who are more fluent in their reading, this would be a great way to assess their reading comprehension and ability to respond appropriately on the response sheets.
4. Homework
5. Morning Work

  1. Annie- I have a number of your products on either TN or TpT. I used them last year in K, but this year I'm teaching 1st. About 1/2 of our students will be ready for 1st grade work and the other half need to do K. I think these look like they would work for guided reading for kids on level. They use a lot of good sight words, but aren't totally predictable. They're in my cart, but am hoping for a Tpt sale in August! I need it:)

  2. I own it! Yes! Reading with the teacher center and after they move to the next center they can work on answering comp questions…great! Thanks to fabulous Annie!
