When I was teaching, words problems were something that kids just dreaded and they always did horrible with word problems on state tests. They would almost cringe when word problems were mentioned. Well, that’s not good. I wanted to create some simple beginning word problems that would help students master this concept at an early age and still be FUN! Also, it meets a lot of Common Core Standards!
One of issues that many kids have with word problems is drawing ALL OF THOSE PICTURES! Don’t get me wrong, I think drawing pictures to show your work is great. However, when something so simple like drawing pictures gets in the way of mastering a concept, we need to look for another approach. Therefore, I created some Fall Word Problems that let students color, cut and paste! They are still able to work out some addition and subtraction word problems, without having to color each picture.
The Fall Word Problem pack is great for students who are beginning to master the whole word problem concept. This pack allows them to color, cut and paste their work instead of drawing the pictures. This pack includes word problems with leaves, apple pies, turkeys and more!
Here is an example of how one of the word problem pages works…
Begin with the word problem sheet, either addition or subtraction.

I agree…my grandson loves math, but all that drawing would turn him off. So the cutting and pasting would work much better. Thanks.
